Avoiding a conversation or person because it feels awkward or risky? This session gives you the skills you need to have calm, productive conversations with flatmates, friends, or anyone you need to have a tough conversation with.
Whether its between friends, flatmates, group project members, family or co-workers, sometimes we don't have all the skills we need to resolve difficult conversations. It's a life skill that will carry you throughout your university career and beyond. This session, located on the second floor of Student Central in Bookable Room 7, is lead by a staff member from our Advice Centre who is extremely passionate about supporting you in gaining the confidence needed to speak up, including knowing when its time to seek help.
In this session, some major skills you'll learn will be:
- Techniques for staying calm and focused
- How to structure your conversation
- How to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally
- Setting boundaries and goals in your conversations
- Real time practice
